Hudson River Bank & Trust Company Foundation Awards Grants totaling over $600,000

The Hudson River Bank & Trust Company Foundation announced that it has made grant awards totaling over $600,000 to more than 400 not-for-profit organizations in the calendar year 2005.  Several grants made by the Foundation include the following:

$3,000 to the Columbia County Council on the Arts in support of the organization’s annual Arts Walk.

$30,000 to the Columbia Opportunities, Inc. in support of the Heating Energy Assistance program.

$5,000 to Columbia Memorial Hospital to support the Blood Pressure Screening program.

$1,000 to the Stay & Play Kids Afterschool Care, Inc. to assist in the purchase of a computer for the program.

$20,000 to the Office for the Aging to support the Heating Assistance program.

$6,000 to the Salvation Army to support the 2005 Red Kettle Campaign.

$1,500 to the Nassau Nursery Association to support the tuition assistance program.

$5,000 to the Roe Jan Food Pantry to support the Thanksgiving and Christmas Basket campaign.

$5,000 to the Columbia-Greene Community Hospice Foundation to support its outreach programs.

$3,000 to the Hudson Rotary Club to support the Hudson Rotary Respite Room at Columbia Memorial Hospital.

$15,000 to the Columbia County Agricultural Society to support community events.

$2,500 to Senior Services of Albany to support the Meals on Wheels program.

$5,000 to the NOLA Hurricane Fund to support the Hurricane victims in New Orleans.

$5,000 to WMHT to support the “Expand the Horizons of Public Broadcasting in Tech Valley” campaign.

$2,000 to the Greenport Historical Society to support the Columbia Turnpike West Gate Tollhouse project.

$500 to the New York Newspapers Foundation to support the newspapers in Education program.

$20,000 to the Housing Resources of Columbia County to support the area food pantries in Columbia County.

The Foundation was established in 1998 by the Hudson River Bank & Trust Company at the time of its conversion.  The Foundation continues its historic mission of philanthropic community support as an independent organization.

Through the Hudson River Bank & Trust Company Foundation, grants are awarded in the areas of health care, community development, education and youth, arts and culture, historic preservation and environmental protection.

The Foundation Committee reviews all grants requests submitted and decisions are based on the excellence of the project or service, the impact and benefit in the community and the ability of the organization to carry out their plans.  Additional information about the Foundation can be found at
