HRBT Foundation Donates $10K To Eddy Visiting Nurses

June 03, 2007

(Catskill NY)

The Eddy Visiting Nurse Association’s (Eddy VNA) Catskill office has received a $10,000 gift from the Hudson River Bank & Trust Co. Foundation to benefit the expansion of its telehomecare program in Columbia and Greene counties.

The funds will support the purchase of additional telehomecare remote patient monitoring equipment to help improve access and health outcomes for patients in those communities. Telehomecare is an advanced interactive technology that enables nurses in the office to make “video visits” to patients in their homes and check on vital sign information, such as blood pressure, oxygen levels, weight and heart rates. Nurses are able to monitor individuals with chronic diseases and identify trends early so that physicians can make interventions promptly.

“We’re extremely grateful to the Hudson River Bank & Trust Co. Foundation for this generous gift which will enable us to serve more individuals in the community,” says Michelle Mazzacco, vice president of Eddy VNA. “Our telehomecare program has proven to dramatically reduce re-hospitalizations of chronically ill patients and visits to the emergency room, so we’re excited to expand upon that success and improve the health and quality of life for many more residents in the Twin Counties area,” she adds.

“The Eddy has a long-standing vital connection to our community and has always provided an extremely valuable service to those in need.  The members of the Hudson River Bank & Trust Co. Foundation Board are honored to be able to contribute to those efforts.  To give support to organizations like the Eddy is the very reason the Foundation was originally established.  The Board acknowledges that we owe so much to the Eddy and are pleased to be able to give something back.”, said Carl Florio, Director of the Foundation.

The Hudson River Bank & Trust Company Foundation was established in 1998 to provide financial support to nonprofit organizations.  The Foundation continues its charitable giving with an emphasis on education, youth development, arts and culture, historic preservation, health care, human services and community development.  For additional information regarding the grant application process, please contact Holly Rappleyea at (518) 671-6226 or visit our website at
