Hudson River Bank & Trust Foundation Exceeds $4 Million in Grant Giving

(Hudson NY) The Board of Directors of the Hudson River Bank & Trust Company Foundation announced today that it has made grant awards totaling over $4 million to more than 800 not-for-profit organizations since its inception in 1998.  Several grants made by the Foundation this past year include the following:

$10,000 to the Northeast Parent & Child Society in support of the Parenting Education and Intervention Program.

$10,000 to the Columbia Opportunities, Inc. in support of the senior citizens R.I.D.E. program.

$20,000 to Columbia County Habitat for Humanity to assist in the Mill Street Neighborhood Project Home.

$24,000 to Columbia Memorial Hospital to promote the new program “Empowering the Community to be Partners in Health”.

$20,000 to Chatham Little League to assist in the construction of a new indoor sports complex.

$4,600 to the Salvation Army to support the Thanksgiving Basket campaign.

$10,000 to the Eddy Visiting Nurses to benefit the expansion of its telehomecare program in Columbia and Greene Counties.

$10,000 to the Columbia-Greene Community Hospice Foundation to support its outreach programs.

$500 to the New York Newspapers Foundation to support the newspapers in Education program.

$1,000 to the Hudson Opera House to support the Winter Walk event.

$5,000 to Columbia-Greene Community Foundation to support the Schram Scholarship fund.

$5,000 to the Hudson Middle School After School Program to assist in the cost of bussing for the students.

$9,780 to the Working in Support of Education Program to implement the Financial Literacy Certification at Taconic Hills High School.

The Foundation was established in 1998 by the Hudson River Bank & Trust Company at the time of its conversion and continues its mission of philanthropic community support as an independent organization.

The Hudson River Bank & Trust Company Foundation has $19 million in assets and is managed by Marilyn Herrington, Tony Jones, Carl Florio, Sid Richter, Joe Phelan and Holly Rappleyea.

Through the Hudson River Bank & Trust Company Foundation, grants are awarded in the areas of health care, community development, education and youth, arts and culture, historic preservation and environmental protection.

The Foundation Committee reviews all grants requests submitted and decisions are based on the excellence of the project or service, the impact and benefit in the community and the ability of the organization to carry out their plans.  Additional information about the Foundation can be found at
